New Sufjan Stevens

Posted by Matthew in

I had first heard Sufjan Steven's on the Queen Mary down in Long Beach. He wasn't so widely popular then and was playing on a small stage on a docked boat. He was in his hushed "Seven Swans" period.  I really never thought that he would ever get so popular as I relegated him to very pretty and enjoyable but not a force to be reckoned with.

Then came "Illinoise" in which we saw him harness some of the most dynamic and refreshingly new sounds out of the indie landscape in a long time. He went on to gain world wide notoriety lending his music to movies such as "Little Miss Sunshine".

He now takes us for another musical twist by adding more electronic elements to his sound. You might have heard this one coming based on his track " You are the Blood " for the "Dark was the Night" compilation . Anyways what do you guys think of this song? It's live but the quality is pretty good.

Weird Dream

I am just remembering I had a strange dream where I was at a Ryan Adams concert and he came and asked me to sing songs with him. So he held the mike up and I started to sing/hum lyrics from " Easy Tiger". I faked it through a couple songs I forgot the lyrics too and hoped he wouldn't notice. I think he did but thought I knew them well enough. I woke up shortly after and wondered why the hell I would ever dream of such things like singing Ryan Adams songs to Ryan Adams. Weird.

Um this is awesome.

Korean BBQ Dinner

Posted by Matthew in

I mentioned how much I loved interactive dinner the other week. Some people think that going to a restaurant just to cook your own dinner is a bit ridiculous. Why would they pay someone to bring them a plate of raw meat and then tip them for it?! Well I like it and absolutely love having my meal cooked right before my eyes. I don't want to be plucking chickens in the back or anything like that but putting meat on a grill is inherently fun.

We were craving some Korean BBQ but definitely could not make the drive to K-Town with our hunger approaching dangerous levels. So I did a little yelp search and found a KBBQ place a couple miles away. We ordered combo #1 which seemed reasonable enough. Little did we know that this combo could probably feed 4 grown men. It was a tray filled with all sorts meat and vegetables. We knew the battle was on as we did our due diligence making as much progress as we could. Alas the meat had won the battle over our stomachs. We cooked the rest and boxed it up so I could use it for some steak and eggs in the morning. I really can't wait till I stop feeling full so we can go back. Maybe we'll invite a couple more people this time.

P.S This is the song I have been listening to while I typed this out...the Miike Snow album is really nice.
