Last night was my sister's birthday. We ordered in for some Thai food instead of going out because I had to work later than I thought. Of course we had to have noodles because in our house we always had noodles for birthday's to bring good luck. So some pad thai was definitely in order!

Happy Thursday everyone! I woke up feeling especially good today. I had a massage last night and played in a company softball game. I had a little old asian lady stomp and tear my back apart for an hour and then attempted to muster up some strength and play softball. I guess it's a bit counterintuitive to get a massage then try to rev up and play competitive sports shortly after but I had promised to play. It was annoying that the other team was taking walks, which is despicable in my book. I think maybe a movie and some wine would have been a bit more in tune but oh well.
This music video is for the song "Abandon" off the French Kick's last album "Swimming". This was one of my favorite albums of the year. I can still listen to it front to back like it was brand new to me. It's perfect for lazy summer days and nice drives on non-traffic filled days.
So I am not sure what to think of this video. I do like it but it seems at times like a little bit too much of a friend love fest i.e the individual segments with the lip synching large black guy and the random mega crying chick. The colored balls and balloons coming down the stairs are reminiscent of the Sony Bravia commercial with the Jose Gonzalez 'Heartbeats" track on it. Which is a nicely matched visual for a track like this. I like the hula hooping girl. Something oddly mesmerizing about watching someone hula hoop especially with that nice soft lighting and colored streamers everywhere. She is attractive too so that helps.
So you may not love the video but the song is great and the rest of the album is too. Check out the track "Over the World" from the same album. It is an amazing song as well.

So I was basically combing through my usual music blogs and came across this awesome loungy cover of The Killer's "When You Were Young" by a band called the Noisettes . Shingai Shoniwa the lead singer takes this song to new heights and really adds a soul to it. The song really takes on a new life when you hear it delivered this way with the backing singers and string section adding layer upon intricate layer. Shingai alters some of the lyrics to really turn the corner and make this song her own. Even if you are too cool for school and think The Killers songs are lame well you need to take off your indie snob hat for a couple minutes and take a listen/gander at this.

My good friend Mike is a mad genius and here is the proof. This is what would happen if Kevin Jonas from the Jonas Brothers went solo......You got to admit he looks like KJ quite a bit. Please watch this if you enjoy enhancing your life. This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. KJ OUT.

While scouring my daily music sites I came across a video called "Half Asleep" by a band called School of Seven Bells. I had heard of them before but never taken a listen till now. It is really pretty stuff. I am a sucker for dream pop; It's soothing, beautiful and uplifting. It's especially perfect for rainy weather, breakups, makeups, getting ready for work in the morning, getting ready for bed at night and when you want to romance those indie girls who wear cool headbands and who may or may not have unsightly tattoos. In the song we hear SSB with their tight and soaring melodies take us through a sort of surreal cab ride through the city. A bonus is that the singers are twin sisters who happen to be unbelievably good looking. We all win! Yeah for the genetic lottery!

My buddy showed me this video yesterday and it has to be one of the funniest things ever created by humans on Earth. If you thought that feeding your dog beer during BBQ's and watching him stumble around your living room was funny, imagine a small child all doped up and watching him stumble about "mentally". KIDS LOVE DRUGS.

So if you haven't heard Christian Bale freaking the fuck out on the set of his latest movie "Terminator Salvation" yet then your life is nearly complete as you thought. I guess the poor DP walked into a shot or something like that and Bale unleashes hells wrath upon this poor man. He then threatens to pull down all this dudes lighting equipment and tells him to SHUT THE FUCK UP because when C. Bale wants to give a verbal beat down it's not done till he says it's done.

With the inauguration of Barack Obama yesterday and all ensuing parties that followed; there was bound to be some video worthy stuff happening. In between Kanye, Beyonce and all the other people who were in Washington to kick off Obama's presidency someone happened to record Jay-Z performing a song called " My President is Black" . It's pretty cool with a hook that goes something like this ....
"My president's black, in fact, he's half white/ So even in a racist's mind he's half right/ Even in these racist times it's all right/ My president is black but his house is all white."
Jay-Z stops to wait for the crowd noise to die down a bit to make sure everyone can hear his verses. Anyways I hope all of you had a nice one and got to take time out to watch coverage of the historical day we had.

I was watching this at work and started laughing out loud at my desk. I had to pull off my headphones to stop so people wouldn't start wondering what I was doing. This is also Amy Poehler's last SNL show!

Hi everyone. I know I have been slack assing on these posts lately. With Thanksgiving and my time being consumed by the digestive processes; I have been stricken with a case of lazies ( i just made that term up) . I am compiling my list of top albums of 2008 and that is taking some time and will be up soon but in the meantime please enjoy this clip from the season finale of "It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia". This is by far one of the funniest episodes in the entire series. I love this show.

Ok So I have been such a slack ass with updating the blog. I apologize to the 2-3 people who check it when they are absolutely bored out of their skulls but I thought I would post this video I thought was pretty damn funny. Tomorrow I will be posting a downloadable mix tape of some songs I am currently enjoying. It will be dope I promise. Anyways I hope your weekend was fruitful and everything you wanted it to be.

There is a plethora of acoustically driven music out there and it all tends to get pretty blah after too long. But for every 50 shoe-less naval gazing acoustic artist along the way you'll find someone who doesn't make you want to smash a guitar on their heads. With that said I would like to post some video of an artist I have been turned onto recently "A.A Bondy". His voice is quite distinctive with a real nice rasp to it that I love. Very Dylan-esque in nature. The melodies are simple and beautiful and I look forward to more from him. Get his album " American Heart"
